You may have read about the beautiful relationship between NFL star and former Baltimore Raven Jacoby Jones and Coby R., an 11-year-old boy battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. (Read more at https://goo.gl/M9VOCQ) Even after his football career took him elsewhere, Jacoby maintained his relationship with Coby, calling and chatting over FaceTime on an almost daily basis. Without any fanfare or recognition, Jacoby has been there for Coby through the good times and the tough times. And right alongside Coby and Jacoby, Chai Lifeline has been there as well. Chai Lifeline is an organization that attends to the overall well-being of each individual and family unit that is affected by a life-threatening or chronic illness. The most impressive parts of the organization include a premier summer camp experience, advocacy, weekend retreats, amazing recreational programs, assistance for families when children are hospitalized, and crisis management – all free to families. These outstanding and life changing services are staffed by experienced professionals and volunteers that love and care for our children and their families, enabling them to wake every day with hope—whether at home, in the hospital or in Camp Simcha! When Coby was diagnosed in September 2014, there was no Chai Lifeline region in the area. With the passion of Coby’s mom and a few others, an office was opened in January 2016 to what is now the Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic Region. With 160 volunteers, a case manager, and program director, services are already being provided for over 100 families in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. While part of a national organization, all local programming and services are the Mid-Atlantic region's responsibility. Money raised in our region provides direct services to children and families in our region. We set up this page in honor of hometown hero Jacoby Jones, who will always remain a Baltimore Raven in our hearts. In honor of Jacoby and Coby, please consider your donation now to Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic. No amount is too small. Together we can make a difference!
